The media keep silent about the violence of the Venezuelan opposition and the prevailing repression by the right-wing governments of Latin America. The Right’s strategy of an institutional coup faces serious limits, but the Left must address this new threat, supporting antiimperialist decisions and making a distinction between the capitalist boycott and the government’s ineffectiveness. Adhering to social-democratic standards, the post-progressive “critical left” objects to Chavismo, dismissing the danger of a coup, and mistakenly identifying authoritarianism as the main danger. Im vergangenen Jahr sahen die fortschrittlichen Kräfte der Region mit Bestürzung das Auftauchen rechtsgerichteter Führer wie Mauricio Macri in Argentinien und Michel Temer in Brasilien. Das Erstarken eines Blocks neoliberaler Länder rund um die Pazifik Allianz eröffnete die Debatte über den Charakter des wieder aufstrebenden Neoliberalismus, die Grenzen des sogenannten “progressiven Zyklus”, die Aufgaben, die auf die Linkskräfte des Kontinents zukommen, das Nachdenken über die revolutionären Erfahrungen des vergangenen Jahrhunderts und die Herausforderungen an die marxistische Theorie. A comemoração do 150º aniversário de O Capital renovou o debate sobre as contribuições legadas por Marx para a compreensão da sociedade actual. O texto continua a suscitar apaixonadas adesões e fanáticas rejeições, mas já não exerce a enorme influência que teve nos anos 60 e 70. Também não sofre o esquecimento que acompanhou o desmoronamento da União Soviética. Nenhum investigador probo ignora actualmente o significado do livro e as releituras trespassam a academia e a influência que exerce sobre numerosos pensadores.

Durante os últimos dois meses a Venezuela afrontou uma onda de violência terrível. Contam-se já mais de 60 mortos entre escolas saqueadas, edifícios públicos incendiados, transportes públicos destruídos e hospitais evacuados. Os grandes meios de comunicação transmitem, em cadeia, só denúncias macabras do governo. Instalaram a imagem de um ditador em conflito com os democratas da oposição.

Los medios silencian la violencia de la oposición venezolana y la represión imperante en los gobiernos derechistas de la región. La estrategia de golpe institucional afronta serios límites, pero la izquierda debe confrontar con esa amenaza, apoyando decisiones antiimperialistas y distinguiendo el boicot capitalista de la inoperancia oficial.
Siguiendo pautas socialdemócratas, el pos-progresismo objeta al chavismo, desecha el peligro golpista e identifica erróneamente al autoritarismo. Los dogmáticos ignoran al enemigo principal y convergen con los conservadores o se deslizan hacia una pasiva neutralidad.
La derecha sólo pretende comicios que le aseguren primacía. En condiciones muy adversas la Constituyente reabre oportunidades y suscita un reencuentro de la intelectualidad radical.
